How we select a provider

Once we have determined the type of care services needed and prioritised a list of appropriate facilities then we begin a detailed review, so to evaluate and compare them. The objective being to identify the most suitable person-centered provider. We use the following checklist, so to choose the appropriate facility that satisfies a client’s demands and needs.

  • Does the provider match the available budget?
  • What range of care services does the facility provide?
  • Can they satisfy any special needs that may be required?
  • Does it perform background checks on staff?
  • What procedures does the provider have in place to handle emergencies?
  • Do they offer the specific services you need (overnight or live in care)?
  • Does the facility provide continuity of care in its assistants?
  • Does an agency provide an ‘out of hours’ service?
  • How long has this facility been providing care services?
  • How does this provider select and train its employees?
  • What’s their approach to making care plan changes?
  • Does the provider assign supervisors to spot check the quality that the clients are receiving in their homes?
  • How does the provider follow up on and resolve problems?
  • Is the facility licensed?
  • What is the facility’s latest Care Quality Commission rating?
